Travel disruptions reported at SunExpress and Otopeni Airport
Travelers experienced significant disruptions involving SunExpress flights and Otopeni International Airport in Romania.
On August 15, SunExpress reported a technical failure in its systems that disrupted check-in and boarding processes for passengers traveling from Antalya. The airline confirmed the issue was resolved but canceled several flights to stabilize operations, including routes to Basel, Munich, Stuttgart, Zurich, Vienna, and Kayseri. Many passengers traveling from Antalya to Bucharest reported long delays and lost luggage upon arrival.
Separately, a power outage occurred at Otopeni International Airport, causing tension in the security control area. Passengers reported having to restart security procedures at a different terminal once generators were activated. The incident led to temporary confusion and congestion at exit gates during the transition.
