Travel eSIMs push connectivity as AI‑planned trips become mainstream

Jetpac, a global travel eSIM provider, says AI can design itineraries but travelers still need reliable mobile data to execute those plans. The company promotes its eSIM, which activates before departure and works in more than 200 destinations, offering instant installation, 4G/5G switching, hotspot sharing and voice packs to keep maps, transport apps and payments online.

In Japan, KDDI and JR East have expanded the “povo Data Oasis” programme, giving inbound visitors 0.5 GB of free mobile data per day at 83 rail stations. The service is linked to the Welcome Suica Mobile app, turning stations into connectivity touch‑points and highlighting a shift from pre‑trip eSIM purchases to on‑the‑ground data provision. Both moves illustrate the rapid growth of travel eSIM adoption, with GSMA forecasting eSIM connections to outpace removable SIMs by the decade’s end.
