Travel expert flags Balkan, Sri Lanka, Dubai and Saudi Arabia as top summer 2026 destinations
Travel specialist Thorsten Stork, owner of the "Urlaub in Dubai" portal, says many German vacationers continue to favour Spain and Italy, but rising travel costs are steering them toward lesser‑known spots. He highlights the Balkan—especially Albania and Montenegro—as affordable, quieter alternatives with impressive coastlines and nature.
Stork also recommends farther‑afield destinations. He notes Sri Lanka’s resurgence thanks to its varied attractions, from beaches to tea plantations and wildlife parks. Dubai remains a benchmark for service, safety and variety, appealing to families, couples and luxury travellers. Finally, he points to Saudi Arabia’s opening tourism sector, suggesting its landscapes, modern resorts and cultural sites merit a place on travellers’ bucket lists.
The interview underscores a shift among German tourists toward more adventurous and value‑driven holidays for the summer of 2026.
