Travel platforms Airbnb and eSky expand services and AI integration

The travel technology sector is seeing significant shifts driven by artificial intelligence and service expansion. eSky is positioning itself as a strong competitor to Booking.com by enhancing its comprehensive planning capabilities. The platform recently introduced MAIA, an AI assistant that includes a voice mode for two-way conversations, and has expanded its offerings to include attraction bookings and car rentals through a partnership with CarTrawler.

Meanwhile, Airbnb has reported strong financial performance, leading to a 14% increase in pre-market shares. The company raised its full-year revenue growth forecasts to the mid-teens after generating $3.61 billion in second-quarter revenue, surpassing analyst expectations. Airbnb's leadership noted that the integration of AI tools has successfully optimized business processes, contributing to a 16% year-over-year decrease in customer support costs per booking despite global geopolitical tensions.
