For travelers interested in active holidays rather than sunbathing, European options such as Madeira and La Gomera for hiking, or the Algarve for coastal walks and cycling, are advised.

Regarding booking strategies, experts suggest looking at smaller locations within well-known holiday regions to find better options. The European winter is noted as a primary season for long-haul travel to destinations in Asia or the Caribbean.
