Travel Rock sued for 547 million pesos following student abuse in Bariloche

A court in Bariloche has sentenced a young man to six years in prison for sexual abuse involving a 17-year-old student from Chaco during a graduation trip in October 2024. The judges ruled unanimously that the victim did not consent to the encounter, rejecting the defense's claims of a consensual act.

Following the criminal conviction, a civil lawsuit has been filed against the travel agency Travel Rock, seeking approximately 547.9 million pesos in damages. The lawsuit, represented by attorney Ignacio Sinkovich, alleges that the company failed in its duty of care and security obligations.

The plaintiffs cite several failures, including the use of mixed-gender rooms and the consumption of alcohol during activities, which they argue increased risks for the students. Additionally, the legal action questions the company's response to the initial report, noting that while the victim and her family were moved to different accommodation, the accused remained with the rest of the group.
