Travel safety and health precautions for international trips
Travelers are advised to prioritize health precautions and emergency organization when visiting foreign countries. The health insurance provider IKK BB offers 100 percent reimbursement for recommended travel vaccinations, provided they comply with STIKO recommendations or Foreign Office travel advice. Covered vaccinations include Cholera, Yellow Fever, Hepatitis A and B, Meningococcal infections, Polio, Rabies, and Typhus, as well as FSME. While no vaccine exists for Malaria, chemoprophylaxis is recommended to increase safety.
In terms of organizational preparedness, Dennis Besseler has released a new book, ‘Sicherheit auf Reisen – Die Notfall-Checkliste für Reisende und Angehörige’. The guide focuses on establishing a personal emergency system in approximately 30 minutes. It assists travelers and their relatives in organizing critical information such as emergency contact cards, digital travel files, medical data, and powers of attorney, ensuring that essential details are accessible even if the traveler is unable to provide them during a crisis.
