Travellers' caravans set up in Plouvien and Sarreguemines, France

In Plouvien, Brittany, about a dozen families from the gens du voyage community arrived on 3 August 2026 and parked their caravans on a municipal green space near the Saint‑Jaoua chapel. The mayor, Olivier Le Fur, met the group, provided drinking water and a waste bin, and the community of communes supplied a garbage container. The encampment is expected to remain for roughly two weeks before the families move on.

In Sarreguemines, Moselle, around 40 caravans housing more than 100 travellers settled on an agricultural field opposite the local aerodrome on 31 July. Municipal officials and the Sarreguemines Confluences agglomeration have been in daily contact with the group, monitoring the site for an anticipated three‑to‑four‑week stay and considering possible legal steps to address the occupation.
