Travemünder Woche in Kiel reports smooth sailing races, low police incidents

The 137th Travemünder Woche sailing festival in Kiel featured a series of Musto Skiff races under warm, breezy conditions. British sailors Danny Boatman and Rick Peacock were among the front‑runners, with Dan Vincent ultimately securing the overall victory. The competition proceeded without major mishaps, aside from a single capsize that forced a competitor to abandon a race.

From a railway‑police perspective, the event attracted roughly 600,000 visitors, many of whom travelled by train between Lübeck and Travemünde. The Bundespolizeiinspektion Kiel reported a calm atmosphere, with no serious incidents on the rail network. Police interventions focused on early warnings for alcohol‑related behaviour, and recorded crimes fell by 36% to just 14 cases, mainly minor offenses such as trespass and assault.

Overall, the festival combined successful sailing competition with a smoothly managed public‑order situation.
