Travis Barker documentary explores survival of fatal plane crash
The documentary ‘Louder Than Fear’ is set to premiere on Disney+, exploring the life and survival of Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker. The film, which debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival, examines Barker’s journey through personal loss and trauma, specifically focusing on a 2008 plane crash.
During the accident involving a Learjet 60, four people were killed: two pilots, personal assistant Chris Baker, and bodyguard Che Still. Barker, who survived, suffered severe injuries including third-degree burns over 65 percent of his body, broken ribs, and multiple spinal fractures. He underwent 27 surgeries during a three-and-a-half-month hospital stay.
In the documentary, Barker reflects on the psychological toll of the event, revealing that he struggled with suicidal ideation while recovering in the hospital. He also discusses how music served as a vital coping mechanism following the deaths of his mother and friends. The film highlights the importance of family and Barker’s resilience in transforming grief into strength.
