Travis Hunter Returns to Jaguars After Knee Surgery, Gains Weight and Speed

Jacksonville Jaguars two‑way rookie Travis Hunter is back at training camp after tearing knee ligaments in a non‑contact drill and undergoing surgery to repair the lateral collateral ligament. The Heisman Trophy winner, selected No. 2 overall in the 2025 draft, missed most of his rookie season but used the offseason to add about 10 pounds of muscle. Hunter said the added weight made him feel “lighter on his feet,” and he was clocked at 22.6 mph during a recent run at the team facility.

Coach Liam Coen plans to continue using Hunter on both offense and defense, mapping his reps carefully as the Jaguars have bolstered their secondary by re‑signing safety Montaric “Buster” Brown. Hunter will wear a teal jersey when playing wide receiver and a white bib with No. 12 when on the cornerback side. The team enters the 2026 season after a 13‑4 finish in 2025, aiming for back‑to‑back playoff appearances.
