Travis Japan to release new single ‘Checkmate’ on October 26

The Japanese idol group Travis Japan has announced the digital release of their new song, ‘Checkmate’, scheduled for October 26 at midnight. The track is included in their upcoming fourth album, ‘Jewelry Basket’, which is set for release on November 18.

‘Checkmate’ serves as the ending theme song for the Yomiuri TV drama DiVE ‘Empress’ (Jotei), in which group member Kaito Nakamura performs the role of Naoto Date. The song is described as a fusion of thrilling lyrics involving psychological warfare and a stylish, high-speed sound, designed to complement the drama’s themes of revenge and ambition within the nightlife industry.

Prior to the single release, the song will be aired on radio stations nationwide starting October 24. This follows the success of the group’s previous digital single, ‘EGO’, which reached number one on the Oricon Weekly Digital Single rankings for the period of October 12 to October 18.
