Siddharth Jawahar sentenced to 11 years for $35M Ponzi scheme

Siddharth Jawahar, the founder of Texas-based Swiftarc Capital LLC, has been sentenced to 11 years in federal prison for orchestrating a multimillion-dollar Ponzi scheme. Prosecutors stated that between 2016 and 2023, Jawahar collected over $35 million from investors but only invested approximately $10 million.

Jawahar reportedly funneled nearly 99% of the client funds into a single investment, Philip Morris Pakistan. When the value of that investment declined, he misled clients by claiming they were still making profits. Instead, he used funds from new investors to repay older ones and to finance an extravagant lifestyle involving private jets, luxury hotels, and high-end designer shopping at retailers such as Gucci and Louis Vuitton.

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was identified during court proceedings as one of at least 64 victims of the fraud. While his specific financial losses were not disclosed, records indicate he had previously invested in a fund established by Jawahar’s company. Other professional athletes, including NBA players Gary Harris, Tim Hardaway Jr., and Mason Plumlee, were also linked to the scheme. Jawahar pleaded guilty to three counts of wire fraud and was ordered to pay $31.35 million in restitution.
