Trawlerman retires from racing following leg injury

Godolphin has announced the retirement of the eight-year-old gelding Trawlerman following a leg issue. The decision came after the horse failed to appear in the entries for the upcoming Group 2 Weatherbys Lonsdale Cup Stakes at York.

Trawlerman, a son of Golden Horn, enjoyed a highly successful career, winning 11 of his 25 starts. His notable achievements include a victory in the 2025 Ascot Gold Cup, the Ebor Handicap, and two British Champions Long Distance Cups. Throughout his career, he earned over £2,000,000 in prize money.

Trainers John and Thady Gosden reported that the horse is “happy and well” despite the injury, which was identified as a tendon lesion during preparation for York. Trawlerman will retire to Godolphin’s Wood Ditton Stud.
