Tërbaç resident arrested for suspected arson causing wildfires

A 25-year-old resident of Tërbaç, identified as A. B., has been arrested following a wildfire that broke out in the “Lugu i Thatë” area on August 26, 2026. The fire spread from Tërbaç to the neighboring village of Vranisht, consuming significant areas of agricultural land, wild vegetation, and forest areas.

Following an investigation by the Himarë Police Commissariat to collect material evidence, the suspect was apprehended. The case has been referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of Vlorë for the criminal offense of “destruction of forests and forest environments.” The Vlorë Local Police Directorate has urged citizens to avoid lighting fires for waste disposal or other purposes due to the severe risks to life, property, and the environment.
