Štrbské Pleso to modernize wastewater treatment plant

The Štrbské Pleso wastewater treatment plant is undergoing an extensive modernization project costing approximately 2.17 million euros. The investment, implemented by Podtatranská vodárenská spoločia, aims to upgrade infrastructure that has been in operation since 1995.

Of the total budget, 1.84 million euros is being covered by European Union funds through the Prešovský samosprávny kraj via the Program Slovensko. The project includes the complete replacement of worn-out mechanical and biological cleaning equipment, settling tanks, electrical distribution, and automated control systems.

The 12-month construction period will not interrupt the plant's operations. The upgrades are expected to increase cleaning efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and lower energy and operational costs, ultimately supporting sustainable tourism and nature protection in the Tatra Mountains.
