TRE-AC voids PP and PSD council seats in Assis Brasil over gender‑quota fraud
The Regional Electoral Court of Acre (TRE‑AC) voted unanimously to confirm fraud of the gender‑quota rule by the Progressive Party (PP) and the Social Democratic Party (PSD) in the 2024 municipal election in Assis Brasil. The court annulled the parties' Demonstratives of Regularity of Party Acts (DRAPs), invalidated all votes obtained by the two parties for the municipal council, and ordered the 6th Electoral Zone to recalculate party and electoral quotients for seat redistribution. The ruling also imposed an eight‑year ineligibility period on Assis Brasil mayor Jerry Correia Marinho and on two candidates deemed fictitious, Francisca Delzirlandia Dimas Pinheiro (PSD) and Maria Aparecida Pimentel de Souza (PP). In a separate decision, the Democratic Movement (MDB) successfully avoided cassation; the court upheld its DRAP because, even after the exclusion of a questioned female candidate, the party still met the legal minimum of 33.33 % female candidacies, preserving its votes and council representation.
