TRE-AM prepares electronic voting machines for second round
The Regional Electoral Court of Amazonas (TRE-AM) has begun preparing electronic voting machines for the second round of the 2026 elections. In the capital, Manaus, 4,013 machines are being prepared to serve 13 electoral zones, covering more than 1.4 million eligible voters.
Across the entire state, the process will involve 8,157 machines distributed among 61 municipalities. The preparation involves loading second-round media to update applications with specific candidates and positions, followed by self-tests of hardware components such as keyboards and sound systems, and verifying seals.
Officials noted that the second-round preparation is faster and more simplified than the first round because the machines already contain voter identification data. Additionally, the reduced number of contested positions is expected to result in faster voting times.
