TRE-MS approves several state deputy candidacies for 2026 elections
The Regional Electoral Court of Mato Grosso do Sul (TRE-MS) has approved several candidacy registrations for the 2026 elections. Among those cleared to run for state deputy are Malu do Juliano Varela (Republicanos), Jerson Domingos (União Brasil), Jamilson Name (PP), and Maria Lucia Nogueira Fernandes.
Malu do Juliano Varela’s registration was initially challenged by the ‘Por um Novo MS’ coalition, which argued she had not met the required separation period from her previous role as subsecretary of Public Policies for People with Disabilities. However, the court ruled 3 to 2 in her favor after her defense argued the position was an advisory role.
The TRE-MS is currently operating under a special regime to process a high volume of applications, averaging approximately 22 processes per day. Of the 463 registration requests received, 10 remain pending as the court approaches the September 14 deadline for final judgments and candidate substitutions.
