TRE-TO warns of fraudulent calls targeting voters in Tocantins
The Regional Electoral Court of Tocantins (TRE-TO) has issued an alert regarding fraudulent phone calls targeting voters. Criminals are using automated calls to claim that voters have outstanding electoral debts and instructing them to regularize their status to participate in upcoming elections.
TRE-TO emphasized that the electoral registry is currently closed until November 2, meaning services such as issuing new titles, updating biometric data, or changing voting locations are suspended. The court clarified that it does not make phone calls to inform voters of debts or request personal information.
A specific complaint involving automated calls from a local number has been forwarded to the court’s Information Technology Secretariat and Cybersecurity Advisory, and recorded in the Superior Electoral Court’s (TSE) Disinformation Alert System. While registration is closed, voters can still access certain free services online, such as checking their status, issuing second copies of their titles, or paying regulated fines directly to the National Treasury.
