Tre White returning to Kansas basketball following legal ruling
Tre White is returning to the University of Kansas for the 2026-27 basketball season after being granted eligibility via a legal ruling. A circuit court judge in Indiana issued a temporary restraining order (TRO) and a preliminary injunction in a lawsuit involving White and 89 other athletes against the NCAA. This ruling temporarily prevents the NCAA from enforcing restrictions on these players, granting them immediate eligibility until a full trial occurs.
Kansas head coach Bill Self confirmed White is eligible to return to campus for practice and games. White, a guard from Dallas, averaged 11.3 points and 5.8 rebounds during his first season with the Jayhawks. He also recently played for the Miami Heat in the NBA Summer League, where he averaged 17.3 points per game.
White’s return provides veteran leadership and depth to a roster that underwent significant changes during the offseason. His return also fills the Jayhawks’ 15th and final available scholarship spot.
