Trebisacce Mayor Franco Mundo honored in New York

Franco Mundo, the Mayor of Trebisacce, received an award in New York during Columbus Day celebrations organized by the Associazione Culturale Italiana di New York. The recognition honors his administration's efforts to foster cultural, social, and economic growth, specifically through the promotion of “roots tourism” to strengthen ties between the local community and the Italian diaspora.

As part of the visit, Mayor Mundo participated in the “Radici Connesse” conference held at Piazza Italia on Broadway, which focused on the relationship between Italian territories and emigrant communities. The municipality's strategy includes membership in AICOTOUR (Associazione Italiana Comuni Turismo delle Radici) to preserve local identity and memory while creating international visibility for the region.

Other award recipients during the ceremony included Enzo Odoguardi, honorary consul in Santo Domingo, former footballer Roberto Baggio, and Maria Falcone, president of the Giovanni Falcone Foundation.
