Trebisacce's Emporio Solidale closes after municipal lease ends

The Emporio Solidale in Trebisacce, operated by the Confraternita Misericordia di Trebisacce, has been forced to shut down because the free‑use contract for the municipal premises on Via Manzoni expired and no suitable alternative space was found. The centre, active since 2022, provided food and other assistance to families facing economic and social hardship.

In a statement the directors said, “In questi anni l’Emporio Solidale ha rappresentato un punto di riferimento fondamentale per numerose famiglie del territorio…”. They expressed regret over the closure but hope to secure a new location to resume the service. The Caritas Diocesana has meanwhile opened a “solidarity canteen” in the same municipal building.

The closure removes a key local support point, though the organization remains committed to continuing its solidarity work elsewhere.
