Trecastagni launches Turi Scalia Award to honor Sicilian actor

The municipality of Trecastagni has presented the first edition of the ‘Turi Scalia’ Award, a competition and festival designed to honor the memory of the prominent Sicilian theatrical figure. Organized by the ‘Premio Musco’ Cultural Association in collaboration with the Municipality of Trecastagni and the Regional Department of Tourism and Entertainment, the initiative aims to celebrate Scalia’s legacy.

Mimi Scalia, daughter of the actor and president of the association, described the project as a long-held dream. Out of 15 companies from across Sicily that participated in the initial call, five finalists have been selected. These finalists will perform at the ‘Turi Scalia’ Municipal Theatre between October 24, 2026, and February 6, 2027, concluding with a gala evening and awards ceremony.
