Open‑air cinema festivals brighten Italian towns this July

A series of free outdoor film screenings are taking place across Italy in July 2026. Villa Calcaterra in Busto Garolfo will show Clint Eastwood’s *Juror No. 2* on 25 July, while the town of Pino on Lake Maggiore screens the drama *Fino alle montagne* the same evening. The municipal “Cinema sotto le stelle” programme continues in Trecastelli with a showing of *Wicked – Parte 2* on 28 July, and Rome’s Tor Marancia arena offers nightly free films ranging from Disney classics to *Cast Away* through the end of July. Smaller communities such as Montecchio, Tortona and other municipalities host similar events, providing families with free cultural entertainment in public squares and parks. In Manfredonia, the 19th Corto e Cultura Film Festival presents over 500 short films from Italy and abroad, with free admission and awards ceremonies. These initiatives aim to promote social gathering, cultural access and local tourism during the summer heat.

The programmes feature a mix of recent releases, restored classics and short‑film competitions, all organised by local cultural offices, civic associations and sponsors, and are largely supported by municipalities and regional bodies.
