TREDAŞ launches smart‑meter data system to digitize Trakya power grid

TREDAŞ (Trakya Elektrik Dağıtım A.Ş.) has activated an Akıllı Sayaç Veri Yönetim Sistemi (Smart Meter Data Management System) as part of the national MASS (Milli Akıllı Sayaç Sistemleri) project. The system enables remote reading of smart meters across the Trakya region, real‑time monitoring of voltage quality, and instant reporting of faults to a Central Outage Management System.

Over the next five years the utility plans to replace approximately 500,000 conventional meters with two‑way communication‑enabled Smart Meter PRO and EKO devices, raising the share of customers monitored remotely above 50 %. The rollout is expected to shorten outage response times, improve loss‑and‑theft analysis, and support data‑driven grid operations.

General Manager Necati Ergin said, “We view this not merely as a meter upgrade but as a step toward a self‑monitoring, predictive electricity distribution network that serves today’s needs and invests in the future energy world.”
