Treichville University Hospital hosts free cataract surgery campaign
The Treichville University Hospital (CHU de Treichville) in Abidjan is hosting a humanitarian campaign to provide free cataract surgeries to more than 800 patients. Running from October 31 to November 13, 2026, the initiative is part of the third edition of the “Nour Al-Saudia” project.
The campaign is funded by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre and implemented by the Al-Basar International Foundation in collaboration with the National Eye Health Program (PNSO) and Ivorian medical teams. The project aims to combat avoidable blindness and improve access to ophthalmic care.
Ivorian Minister of Health Pierre Dimba attended the official launch on November 4, 2026. He emphasized the importance of the initiative for improving quality of life and called for the transfer of medical skills to local healthcare providers. This mission follows similar successful campaigns held in 2022 and 2024.
