Treichville University Hospital launches RedPath cancer patient navigation system

The Treichville University Hospital (CHU de Treichville) in Côte d'Ivoire has launched RedPath, a patient navigation system designed to improve the care journey for cancer patients. Managed by the National Cancer Control Program (PNLCa) in partnership with Roche, the World Health Organization (WHO), and WICS, the initiative aims to reduce treatment abandonment by providing individualized support.

Under this system, trained professionals—including nurses, midwives, and social workers—act as intermediaries to help patients navigate financial, geographical, and cultural obstacles. The program utilizes a digital application to document each stage of the patient's journey, with follow-up potentially extending up to three years after treatment ends.

In conjunction with the launch, diagnostic capabilities were bolstered through the provision of 120 million FCFA worth of equipment to the pathology department. This equipment is intended to accelerate and improve the precision of cancer diagnoses.
