Trek unveils fifth-generation Domane endurance road bike

Trek has launched the fifth generation of its Domane endurance road bike, introducing a significant design shift by removing the IsoSpeed damping mechanism. Instead of using a decoupled seat tube to absorb vibrations, the new model utilizes a redesigned frame layup and a specialized RSL carbon seatpost to provide vertical compliance.

This new approach, described by Trek as ‘Smart carbon design’, aims to maintain comparable comfort levels to previous generations while reducing weight. The SLR frame is approximately 300 grams lighter than its predecessor, aided by the removal of IsoSpeed and internal storage components. The bike also features more advanced Series 900 OCLV carbon construction.

Positioned as an ‘all-road’ bicycle, the Domane Gen 5 supports wider tires, with a standard width of 35mm and a maximum clearance of 40mm. The frame has been streamlined, featuring a slimmer rear end and top tube compared to the previous generation.
