Trekking routes in Nepal see rising popularity and infrastructure changes

Nepal continues to host popular trekking routes such as the Annapurna Circuit and the Manaslu Circuit. The Annapurna Circuit is a renowned route that typically takes 15 to 20 days to complete. It features high-altitude landmarks like the Thorong La Pass (5,416 m) and offers views of peaks including Mt. Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre, and Manaslu.

The Manaslu Circuit has seen a significant increase in popularity, with over 12,000 foreign trekkers entering the Manaslu Conservation Area during the 2025 season, compared to approximately 2,000 three years prior. While the route offers remote experiences and high-altitude passes like Larkya La, the expansion of road construction in the Budhi Gandaki region is altering the traditional trekking landscape.
