Trelew Airport evacuated following bomb threat
The Almirante Zar Airport in Trelew, Argentina, was evacuated and operations were temporarily suspended following a bomb threat on a JetSmart flight arriving from Buenos Aires. The incident occurred shortly before 15:00 when cabin crew members overheard a passenger making explicit comments regarding the presence of an explosive device.
In response, the Airport Security Police (PSA) implemented strict safety protocols, which included the total evacuation of the terminal and moving the aircraft to a remote area of the runway. Passengers were relocated to designated assembly points outside the boarding area.
After a thorough inspection by security forces, no explosives were found. The individual responsible for the comment was identified and must appear before authorities to explain the situation, noting that the person later claimed the remark was a joke. Airport operations began to normalize by approximately 19:00.
