Trelew celebrates 140th anniversary with Penguin Festival

The city of Trelew celebrated its 140th anniversary with the 13th Penguin Festival held at the Club Huracán grounds. The event drew more than 15,000 attendees and featured musical performances, cultural activities, and gastronomic offerings.

As part of the festivities, the Telebingo Deportivo Solidario was held, organized by the Chubut Social Assistance Institute (IAS) – Lotería del Chubut. This initiative reached record-breaking collection figures this year, intended to strengthen the financing of sports and cultural institutions throughout the province.

Chubut Governor Ignacio Torres and Trelew Mayor Gerardo Merino participated in the event, visiting various areas including the Raíz Emprendedora tent, a provincial program supporting women entrepreneurs. The celebrations also included the 'Camino a Tombo' educational contest, where primary school students created audiovisual content regarding the conservation of local natural reserves and penguin colonies.
