Trendon Watford signs one-year deal with New Orleans Pelicans
Trendon Watford has agreed to a one-year contract with the New Orleans Pelicans worth $2.9 million. The decision ensures the 25-year-old forward remains in the NBA for the upcoming season after being released by the Philadelphia 76ers.
Watford’s decision to stay in the United States concludes interest from several high-level European clubs. Most notably, Valencia Basket had identified the Alabama native as a primary target to strengthen their roster for the EuroLeague, but the player opted to continue his career in the NBA instead. Other European options reportedly included Olympiacos.
Watford brings five years of NBA experience to the Pelicans, having previously played for the Portland Trail Blazers and Brooklyn Nets. During his tenure with the 76ers, he recorded a notable triple-double consisting of 20 points, 17 rebounds, and 10 assists.
