Trenes Argentinos pilots monitoring system for Sarmiento Line level crossings
Trenes Argentinos has launched a pilot program to implement an integrated monitoring and telemetry system for level crossings on the Sarmiento Line. Developed within the framework of the national Railway Emergency, the system provides 24-hour continuous supervision to enhance operational safety and reduce response times to technical failures.
The technology monitors real-time data including barrier arm positions, track circuit occupancy, electrical power supply, and associated signals. When an anomaly is detected, the system automatically triggers alarms to the Control Center and Signaling Bases, allowing maintenance and operational teams to intervene immediately without relying on manual reports.
In addition to real-time alerts, the system includes a historical data recorder, similar to a black box, which logs every status change with timestamps for technical audits and incident investigations. If the pilot proves successful, the company plans a progressive rollout across the remaining lines in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA).
