Trenitalia and Costa Crociere partner for integrated train-cruise travel
Trenitalia and Costa Crociere have signed an agreement to develop integrated train-and-cruise travel solutions, to be available for booking through travel agencies starting in January 2027. The partnership, presented at the TTG Travel Experience in Rimini, will utilize a new booking engine to connect the two companies' reservation systems in real time.
This intermodal approach aims to simplify the travel experience by allowing passengers to combine cruises with national and international rail connections. Key features of the agreement include coordinated train schedules with ship arrivals and departures, station and onboard assistance, and dedicated luggage services that allow travelers to check bags at the station for delivery directly to their cabins.
Initial focus areas include the Swiss market with a Zurich-Genoa connection. Additionally, the companies plan to offer rail links for excursions from Italian ports, such as connections from Naples to Pompeii, Taranto to Alberobello and Locorotondo, and Genoa to the Cinque Terre.
