Trenčín 2026 launches international art exhibition

The international contemporary art exhibition ‘Glokální rovnost a pohostinnost (neplatné idey?)’ has opened at the newly reconstructed Župný dom in Trenčín. The event is part of the Trenčín 2026 – European Capital of Culture program.

Curated by Edit Andrása and Ilona Németh, the exhibition explores ‘glocal’ challenges, connecting global processes with local consequences. Themes include social and economic inequality, migration, the ecological crisis, and geopolitical tensions. The works, which include installations, paintings, sculptures, and video, aim to foster critical reflection and solidarity.

Stanislav Krajči, director of the Trenčín 2026 project, noted the inherent connection between culture and politics, stating that even the choice to be apolitical serves as a political message. The exhibition features internationally recognized artists, including those who have exhibited at the Venice Biennale.
