Trenord and Trenitalia launch recruitment for new train drivers

Major Italian railway operators Trenord and Trenitalia have announced new recruitment drives to train and hire train drivers.

Trenord is opening applications for new drivers from October 21 to November 9. Selected candidates will undergo approximately eight months of training to acquire necessary European licenses, followed by a six-month internship. Requirements include a five-year high school diploma, Italian language proficiency, and a valid driver's license. The role involves managing train operations in collaboration with conductors and operational centers, primarily within the Lombardy region.

Trenitalia, part of the Ferrovie dello Stato Group, is launching an apprenticeship program across ten Italian regions, including Lazio, Emilia-Romagna, and Lombardy. The program targets young graduates aged 18 to 29 with five-year diplomas in technical or scientific fields. The 36-month apprenticeship includes professional training and offers an annual gross salary exceeding 34,000 euros, leading to permanent employment upon successful completion. Applications for the Trenitalia program must be submitted online by October 26.
