Trenque Lauquen expands municipal bicycle sharing program
The municipal program ‘Viví Trenque en Bici’ in Trenque Lauquen is expanding to promote sustainable mobility among residents and visitors. Managed by the Tourism Promotion Office, the free bicycle loan system has recently increased its fleet to 20 bicycles, including 12 new units equipped with protective helmets.
The program is currently implementing a gradual rollout of informative signage at various locations throughout the city featuring bicycle racks. These signs include QR codes that link to a dedicated section of the official municipal website, providing information on the benefits of cycling and the program’s specific objectives.
Mercedes de Castro, coordinator of the Tourism Promotion Office, stated that the initiative aims to raise awareness about incorporating sustainable transport into daily life and encouraging walking or cycling as alternatives to automobiles when distances permit.
