Trensurb suspends service between Canoas and Novo Hamburgo
Trensurb will suspend train services between the Mathias Velho station in Canoas and Novo Hamburgo this Sunday, October 18. The interruption is necessary to ensure the safety of passengers and workers during construction work conducted by the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT) on a BR-116 viaduct.
During the suspension, trains will only operate between Porto Alegre's Mercado station and Mathias Velho station, following regular Sunday schedules with approximately 20-minute intervals. To assist affected commuters, DNIT will provide free bus services between Mathias Velho and Novo Hamburgo in both directions.
Passengers must transfer at Mathias Velho station. The free buses will stop at all intermediate stations, including São Luís, Petrobras, Esteio, Luiz Pasteur, Sapucaia, Unisinos, São Leopoldo, Rio dos Sinos, Santo Afonso, Industrial, and Fenac. Buses traveling from Mathias Velho to Novo Hamburgo will run from 4:30 to 23:30, while return trips from Novo Hamburgo to Mathias Velho are scheduled from 4:25 to 23:05, with roughly 10-minute intervals.
