Trent Williams reacts to Myles Garrett’s trade to the Los Angeles Rams

San Francisco 49ers offensive tackle Trent Williams gave a blunt response when asked about the Los Angeles Rams acquiring defensive end Myles Garrett in a blockbuster trade. Williams said the move “sucks for everybody that’s not in Rams country,” echoing his coach’s view that the challenge must be taken step by step.

Garrett, a two‑time NFL Defensive Player of the Year and five‑time All‑Pro, previously faced Williams twice, most recently when the 49ers beat Cleveland 26‑8 despite his sack. Williams noted Garrett is still young and will improve, adding that the two will meet again when the 49ers play the Rams in Week 1 of the 2026 season, one of the league’s international games in Melbourne, Australia.
