Trentino introduces bow and arrow use for wild boar control
The Autonomous Province of Trento has introduced a new regulation allowing the use of bows and arrows for specific wild boar control measures, effective as an experimental measure starting in 2027.
This decision has sparked political debate, with critics such as the Più Europa party questioning the modernity of the method. However, the measure does not apply to ordinary hunting, which remains suspended for wild boars in the province. Instead, the use of bows is restricted to a small group of qualified controllers performing specific wildlife management tasks aimed at preventing the spread of African swine fever and managing population density.
