Trentino launches 2040 growth strategy and plans 2027 innovation festival

On 4 August 2026 Vice President and Economic Development Assessor Achille Spinelli presented “Trentino 2040 – Perspectives for Economic and Industrial Development”, a long‑term plan that aims to raise the region’s GDP by 40% by 2040, increase value added per worker by 30%, invest 3% of GDP in research and development, cut the wage gap by 20% and improve generational business succession. The plan proposes three immediate actions: a tax‑linked incentive to attract talent, an equity fund to support firm growth, and a housing‑savings scheme that channels private savings into worker housing.

The province also announced the next edition of the Trentino Innovation Festival, to be held in Rovereto on 14‑16 October 2027. Organized by the Autonomous Province of Trento, the municipality of Rovereto, Trentino Marketing, Trentino Development and the local tourism board, the event will be partnered with Il Sole 24 Ore and builds on the Wired Next Fest series that ran from 2023 to 2025. It aims to showcase regional research, culture and enterprises and position Trentino as a laboratory for innovation.
