Tres de Febrero police station fire caused by short circuit
A fire broke out in the holding cells of the Tres de Febrero 11 police station in Remedios de Escalada, Buenos Aires, on a Saturday afternoon.
According to police sources, the blaze was caused by a short circuit shortly after 4:20 p.m. The fire spread rapidly after igniting a polyurethane foam mattress that lacked fire-retardant treatment. While station personnel attempted to extinguish the flames with fire extinguishers, the fire intensified until firefighters arrived to control the situation.
The incident occurred during a period of high tension at the station, shortly after officers had recovered a stolen motorcycle and detained a minor.
