Trestles hosts decisive WSL Championship Tour stage
The ninth stage of the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour is taking place at Lower Trestles in San Clemente, California, from September 11 to 20. This event serves as a critical juncture in the season, acting as the final stage before the postseason cut.
The competition features a strong Brazilian presence, with four of the top five men in the rankings being Brazilian: Italo Ferreira, Yago Dora, Gabriel Medina, and Miguel Pupo. In the women's rankings, Luana Silva holds fifth place. Italian surfer Leonardo Fioravanti currently leads the men's ranking.
Weather forecasts indicate varying conditions throughout the window. Initial swells are expected to provide 4 to 6 foot waves, with a significant new south-southwest swell predicted to peak between September 16 and 18, potentially offering the best competitive conditions.
