Trevalga Manor demolition approved for luxury development
Cornwall Council has approved the demolition of Trevalga Manor, a late-Victorian two-storey residence located near Boscastle, to make way for a new five-bedroom luxury home.
The applicant, Edd Johnson, stated that while the building has a striking form within the coastal landscape, its external appearance is unattractive due to mid-20th-century pebble dash render. Internally, the manor retains original features such as timber floors and fireplaces, but the room sizes are considered inadequate for modern living standards.
A heritage report described the manor as having ‘of low architectural and aesthetic significance, with little intrinsic value’. The property has been vacant since October 2024, and the developer noted that the existing structure requires significant maintenance to meet contemporary standards for energy efficiency and environmental performance.
