Trevor Bauer regrets $102 M Dodgers deal, blames team for career fallout

Former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer, a 2020 National League Cy Young Award winner, said in a recent interview that he wishes he had never signed his three‑year, $102 million contract with his hometown club. Bauer, now pitching for the Diablos Rojos del México in Mexico City, criticized the Dodgers’ front office, calling them “a bunch of snakes” and wishing them “nothing but the worst.”

He recalled being accused of sexual assault in 2021 after two alleged encounters with a woman in Pasadena. The Pasadena Police Department confirmed the allegations, but the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office declined to file charges, citing insufficient evidence. MLB suspended Bauer for 194 games under its domestic‑violence policy, and the Dodgers released him in January 2023.

Bauer, who has also played in Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball and the independent Long Island Ducks, said he still believes he can compete at the highest level but doubts the league will ever allow his return. He noted support he received from teammates Mookie Betts and manager Dave Roberts during the controversy.
