Trevor Megill criticizes Tropicana Field roof visibility

Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Trevor Megill has drawn attention for his blunt criticism of the Tropicana Field roof ahead of World Series Game 3 against the Tampa Bay Rays. Megill expressed frustration with the off-white, slanted fiberglass ceiling, stating, “Whoever decided to make the roof the same g*ddamn color as the baseball is a f**king idiot.”

The roof's color and design have long been controversial in Major League Baseball because the white surface makes tracking fly balls difficult for fielders. Under MLB rules, if a batted ball strikes the roof or a support cable over fair territory, the ball remains live and in play.

Megill’s comments have polarized fans on social media, with some agreeing that the stadium is an embarrassment to the sport and others dismissing the remarks as excuses. The situation carries a layer of irony, as the Brewers' own home stadium, American Family Field, features a retractable roof and support cables that played a decisive role in a controversial play during the NLDS against the San Diego Padres.
