Trevor Rees-Jones reflects on Princess Diana fatal crash

Trevor Rees-Jones, the sole survivor of the 1997 car crash that killed Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed, has reflected on the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident in Paris.

Rees-Jones, a former bodyguard for the Fayed family, was traveling in the front passenger seat of a Mercedes driven by Henri Paul when the vehicle struck a concrete pillar in the Pont de l'Alma tunnel while being pursued by photographers. The crash resulted in the deaths of Paul, Fayed, and Diana, while Rees-Jones sustained catastrophic head, chest, and facial injuries that required extensive reconstructive surgery.

Rees-Jones has noted that security efforts were complicated by Dodi Fayed’s tendency to change plans abruptly without informing his team. Now 58, Rees-Jones maintains a private life, though he continues to bear the physical scars of the incident.
