Trey Parker and Matt Stone inducted into Television Academy Hall of Fame

Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators of ‘South Park’ and the Broadway musical ‘The Book of Mormon’, have been inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame. The induction ceremony featured a tribute by actor and comedian Bill Hader, a former writer and producer for the series.

Hader shared anecdotes regarding the creative process behind the 2009 ‘Fishsticks’ episode, noting how the creators’ focus on emotional resonance led to the satirical depiction of Kanye West. The episode, which originated from observations of salmon during a writers' retreat, became a significant moment in the show’s history.

The honor arrives during a period of high recognition for the duo. ‘South Park’ recently earned three Primetime Emmy Award nominations, including nods for Outstanding Animated Program and Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics. The franchise continues to maintain a significant cultural presence as it approaches its 30th anniversary in 2027.
