Trey Songz sues Texas promoter over $500,000 contract dispute

R&B singer Trey Songz, born Tremaine Aldon Neverson, has filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court against Houston-based promoter Darryl Austin, seeking more than $500,000 in damages.

The dispute stems from a scheduled August 8 performance at the Will Rogers Auditorium in Fort Worth. According to the suit, Neverson and Austin finalized a contract in April, but Austin allegedly failed to make a second installment payment due on July 8. The singer’s legal team claims Austin requested to postpone the concert because he had failed to adequately market and promote the event, despite Neverson’s team offering promotional assistance.

While the singer refused to delay the show and demanded the agreed payment, Austin proceeded to postpone the concert to a date yet to be determined. The lawsuit alleges that Ticketmaster notified fans of the delay without specifying that the promoter, rather than the artist, was responsible. Neverson is seeking damages for lost revenue from premium meet-and-greet sales, as well as damage to his professional goodwill and future earning capacity.
